Tucked away in a quieter side street from Nyhavn, The Union Kitchen is a very popular all-day-breakfast restaurant in downtown Copenhagen among tourists, expats and some Danes who brunch.
We would say their menu is American-inspired with a Nordic twist. For instance, you will find the classic Anglo-morning favorites such as Egg Benedicts and Florentine, and soul food such as Chicken Waffles; cooked in a less heavy style compared to their US counterparts, but with a dash of healthy greens or some pomegranate bites as garnish.
The large space is often busy and crowded, making you feel guilty if you are sitting there too long. Food is good enough but the portion is a bit small. Its prime location also makes the price slightly higher. Nonetheless, we think they are charging fair – after all it is right next to the most visited tourist spot in Denmark. But don’t expect a long leisurely meal with you friends. Nonetheless, we still recommend The Union Kitchen when you absolutely want to try some traditional fares from Southeastern United States.
